Freebie – Drupal
When I think about any freebie or freeware to be more specific, first name comes in my mind is wordpress. But I have separate day kept to write about WordPress and its different functionalities.
These days I am really after finding good CMS software which is easly to setup what I am giving try is a dedicated CMS platform, known as Drupal. This is developed on famous PHP and MySQL. It is very easy to install and required to configure only datasource at start.
Installation : Installing this application is very self explainatory, but what annoyed me was the duplication of default.settings.php file with name settings.php, removing default file gives error, which can be modified to show simple error message.
Usability : Creating content, navigation is very easy to setup for simple site with top menu, navigation and content area. complex sites are bit time consuming to setup, but can be achievable after few tries as there is lot of information and documentation available online.
The application setup can be easily modified using Modules for different behivour or functionality e.g. For Events there is Event Manager module available. Also look and feel of site can be changed by enabling different themes, There are tons available on internet.
