Why should we care to simplify our lives? By creating an environment that helps the human mind slow down, have less worry, and fewer occupations, a person becomes introspective much more easily. It is through this introspection alone that there is any hope of real lasting peace. Everything else will ultimately disappoint. Constantly dialoguing with this or that distraction excites the mind and leaves it restless for more and more. Insight can become destroyed, and the goal of life completely forgotten or confused. Work hard to live more simply and to think more nobly. It will reward you.
And in no particular order:
1. Ditch the TV:
TV is perhaps the number one cause of anxiety in around the world. Try to rarely ever use it. Does anyone ever actually feel good after hearing/seeing so much of bad stuff in the name of entertainment? So why do it?
2. Ditch useless belongings:
If you don’t know why you have something or doubt if you will ever use it again, then probably it is time to give it away or trash it. Clutter in your home makes for clutter in your mind.
3. Stop eating out:
Eating out consumes a lot of time, money, and energy. The food is also rarely healthy. And anyone who is serious about spiritual progress knows the harm of constantly mixing with every Tom, Dick, and Harry.
4. Stop the partying:
The same comments about eating outside go for this. Animals eat, drink, sleep, play, and have sex. You are more than an animal, so act like one.
5. Stop the drinking:
You always regret it. So why do it?
6. Get off of the computer:
Stop reading this article right now. Turn off the computer. Staring at a monitor fries the brain. Constantly saturating yourself with strange internet culture makes you lose touch with reality. Don’t be a slave to your computer.
7. Be satisfied with earning less and spending less:
Yes, you have to make enough to support yourself and be ready for the unexpected. But you do not need brand new cars. Nor do you need to feel like a bigger person because your salary is bigger. Stop identifying yourself with your job.
8. Spend more time in nature
Whatever you are looking at on the computer screen or indoors cannot be nearly as soothing to the eyes, body, and mind as what God created in nature. Nature unfailingly expands the mind.
9. Spend more time reading:
Read books that enlighten and uplift. You have heard enough about the misery in the world. Turn your mind beyond that.
10. Give up unreasonable desires:
Ask yourself: “Is this really necessary?” Usually it won’t be.
11. Discriminate between what is helpful and what is not helpful:
Ask yourself: “Will this be good for me?” In this way, you can avoid useless and harmful endeavors, and increase fruitful ones.
12. Learn prayer or meditation:
This is ultimately the most important- as well as the most difficult- thing to do in life. Do it at the same time everyday, whether you feel like it or not. What you can gain by doing this is greater than anything else in life.
13. Talk less:
Just see how many things you have said in the last few days that were useless. How many times could you have avoided upsetting someone, upsetting yourself, wasting your energy, or exciting your mind?
14. Argue less:
You gain nothing by arguing. Give it up.
15. Judge less:
You gain nothing by judging others. Give it up.
16. React less:
You gain nothing by exciting yourself because of what someone else does or says. Forbear mistreatment.
17. Talk with more kindness:
The botheration that other people cause you can be slowly eroded if you treat then with kindness. Make it so not even the meanest person will be able to withstand your sweetness. Always imagine how the other person will receive what you said, and the way in which you said it.
18. Forgive more:
It does not matter if people forgive you. That is God’s job. If you want your own inner freedom, you must forgive everyone for everything, without any condition. Now that is a lifelong challenge!
19. Remember less:
How much time do we spend each day in rehashing the past? What a waste of energy! What a way to snatch away peace form yourself! Forget that thing you did that made you look silly. Forget what that person said to you. Tomorrow is a new day.
20. Give up changing others:
Making yourself more and more perfect does more to help others change than anything else. Do not waste your life trying to change others. You do not even have enough years remaining to change yourself!
21. Remember death:
When you close your eyes in death, what can you take with you? Your character is the most important possession of all. Invest in that.
22. Give up harmful friends:
Harmful or excitable friends that do not understand your desire for self improvement and that do not accelerate your progress cannot truly be called friends.
23. Keep an organized home:
What you keep around you may just reflect what you are like on the inside. Aesthetics are important.
24. Stop buying things you don’t need:
Do you really need 3 of everything?
25. Think less about the future:
Plan for the future, but do it in the present. Try not to be afraid for any reason. There is no practical gain in doing so.
26. Think more about today:
Today is the only day you have. If you fail to give someone the attention they need now, because your head is spinning off elsewhere, then make some effort at improving this habit.
27. Learn to like solitude
God speaks in silence. You have to want him. You have to learn to enjoy regularly recoiling your mind from the world.
28. Give up fruitless commitments:
You do not need to do it all. If you are not sure how doing something is going to help you attain peace, then why are you doing it?
29. Remember what your essential goals are:
Always remember what you are trying to achieve on a daily basis.
30. Learn to say “No”:
If someone wants you to get involved in something, see that it is either fruitful for you or for someone truly in need. If it is not, then say “No”.
31. Don’t overdo things:
You do not need to identify with every task you take up. Do things efficiently. Do not get stuck beating something to death.
32. Eat slowly:
If you find that you have plenty of time to eat, and yet you still eat quickly, your mind is probably restless. Eat slowly. Let the mind slow down. Your next task can wait 5 minutes. It isn’t going to run away.
33. Drive slowly:
You do not save much time by driving quickly. For the most part, you just mentally strain a lot more.
34. Follow a daily routine:
Struggle as hard as you can to have a daily routine and stick with it. The mind can become habituated. A routine can be your greatest ally in your efforts to slow the mind down.
Be Blissful,

A jobless man applied for the position of "office boy" at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.
"You are employed."
He said." Give me your e-mail address and I’ll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start."
The man replied "But I don’t have a computer, neither an email."
I’m sorry", said the HR manager, "If you don’t have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn’t exist, cannot have the job."
The man left with no hope at all. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate.
He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the Operation three times, and returned home with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this Way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late Thus, his money doubled or tripled every day. Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.
5 years later , the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US .
He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance.
He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email. The manreplied, "I don’t have an email". The broker answered curiously, "You don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?!!"
The man thought for a while and replied, "Yes, I’d be an office boy at Microsoft!"
Moral of the story:
M1 – Internet is not the solution to your life.
M2 – If you don’t have internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.
M3 – If you received this message by email, you are closer to being an office boy,
than a millionaire. ……… Have a great day!!!
Pls Note: – Do not forward this email to me back, I’m closing all my email addresses & going to sell tomatoes!!!
Smiling after reading is not mandatory!!! !
